Grounded in representation, Gerding’s work portrays a deep connection to the landscape of coastal New England. Her time is spent both in the studio, and plein-air—allowing for intense, direct observation of the ever-changing seasons. Working in oils, each piece is based on a real place, a moment experienced the artist.
She states, “There is something unique about being alone with nature—a quiet that connects me like no other. It is only in this solitude, whether outside or in the studio, that the landscape reveals itself to me.”
Gerding is an award-winning plein-air artist and is represented by numerous galleries around the country. She received her BFA from University of Massachusetts.
