Elisa Adams is an award-winning sculptor based in the Boston area. Born in 1959, she is a first-generation Albanian American whose early passion for drawing and painting eventually led her to sculpture. A practicing doctor of chiropractic for over four decades, she began integrating her scientific and artistic practices in 2004.
Primarily self-taught, Adams has developed a distinctive sculptural language that transforms the density of stone into compositions of movement, delicacy, and grace. Her work explores the tension between material strength and visual fluidity, creating forms that seem to breathe while conveying a profound sense of stillness and peace.
Adams has exhibited in more than 100 national and international exhibitions and has participated in major art fairs including Art Expo New York, SOFA Chicago, and Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary. She has received multiple awards and has been featured in numerous publications. In 2019, she was one of 25 sculptors worldwide selected for the Symposium International de Sculpture in Morges, Switzerland.
Her work is represented by many galleries nationwide. Threadneedle Gallery is pleased to carry her sculptures.
Adams creates commissioned works for private collectors and institutions alike. Her sculptures are included in the permanent collection of Boston Children’s Hospital, including a major installation completed in June 2023 for the Wishing Stone Garden, a public rooftop garden at 300 Longwood Avenue. She has also created a commissioned work honoring the hospital’s retiring CEO and continues to collaborate Arts and Business Council of Boston on the annual Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA) Awards.
Reflecting her commitment to the sculptural community, Adams has served the New England Sculptors Association in several leadership roles over the past decade, including Membership Chair, Exhibitions Chair, and President Emeritus.
