I like to push the boundaries of realism into abstraction, using a variety of color, hues and pigments. I mix my own oil paint from pigment, use oil stick and oil paint to enhance what color I see
Kate is drawn to the salt marshes, and coves found along the coastline. She begins a piece by painting en plein air in watercolor. Then, she moves to a small oil study and finally she moves to a larger canvas to complete the process. She mixes most of her oil paints from dry pigments which gives her work a richness and depth not available from a tube. Her artistic journey is tactile and her colors are wonderful and deep. Small and large pieces engage the viewer and broaden their perspective.
Kates artworks are held in collections Nationwide.
